[Working at a reputed hospital]

I came to Ashalayam in the year 2003 from Howrah railway station through Childline. I was staying with my aunt. She didn’t like me very much or care for me; so I had to leave the place. I was roaming in Howrah Station when I was rescued and sent to DBA. While in DBA, I completed Madhyamik in 2014 in first division and Class XII in 2016 also in first division. Thereafter I was admitted to graduate nursing course in St Augustine Medical College, Assam. I successfully completed my nursing in 2019 and presently working in a reputed hospital as a nurse. While I was in DBA I learnt many things apart from school subjects; had plenty of opportunities for games, dance and life skills. I will always remember these throughout my life.

I am in admiration and appreciation of all the Fathers, Sisters, Sponsors and Staffs for helping me to become an independent and responsible person.

[Persuing MSc in Hotel Management]

I began my journey with Don Bosco Ashalayam in 2005 when my mother and I were sent away from my father’s house. We spent our days at the Howrah Railway Station. After a week of staying there, one of the Ashalayam staff reached us to its home for children. I saw many children like me staying in a DBA home. I gladly accepted the admission offer as I was growing desperate living in the railway station.

I was sent to Maayer Asha. I started studying and got admission to a local school. Soon I started dancing and singing while studying. I joined the scouts and guides which helped me in developing my skills and helped me to grow mentally and physically fit. After completing class 12, I was privileged to be admitted to B.A. Programme in Salesian College Siliguri and A grade college with specialization in Sports Management. I began in an ordinary way; I completed the course as the topper in the department in the college. Luck or God's blessings continue to guide me and presently I feel overwhelmed to pursue M.Sc in Dolphin School of Hotel Management, Kalyani with full fees exempted. My gratitude to all those who supported me, very specially, the fathers and sisters who loved me like a child. I see my future very bright. Thank you!

[Coach at Decathlon]

I, Saharul Peada, a proud representative from Don Bosco Ashalayam, had the distinguished honor of being selected as one of the torchbearers for the prestigious Paris Olympics—a momentous achievement for any athlete, and a particularly inspiring one for an Indian youth like me who overcame immense personal challenges.

Today, I serve as a dedicated decathlon coach in Guwahati, where I have the privilege of mentoring and inspiring the next generation of athletes. My journey has been anything but easy; I have navigated through troubled waters marked by hardship and uncertainty, but I was able to rise above adversity and build a meaningful life, thanks in no small part to the unwavering support and guidance I received from Don Bosco Ashalayam.
